You can stream to your Instagram account using 5centsCDN via a custom RTMP connection. For instructions on how to connect a custom RTMP, please refer to the steps below:
Requirement:
- You will need a Professional Instagram Account to stream to Instagram Live. You can change your existing account to Professional by doing the following:
Follow the below steps to stream to Instagram:
- Go to instagram.com on a computer and sign in to your account. Select the Create button from the menu options on the left, then click Live Video from the drop-down menu. Select Public or Private for your audience, add a stream title, and access your stream key and URL. Important: You must always keep this Instagram Live Video tab open.
- Login to 5centsCDN Dashboard.
- Click on the drop-down menu Live Streams which is located to the extreme left.
- Click on the Multistream button.
- Then, click on the Green Plus Button which is located at the top extreme right corner of the screen.
- Under the Info section, provide the Stream Name. Please note: The name will be accepted if it is not already in use.
- Select the Origin Server from the available server list by clicking the Select button. Make sure to select the appropriate server which is geographically located near to your encoder.
- Select the Type as Push or Pull.
- Push -> If you want to push encode the stream then you can select this option.
Please note: Retrieve your encoder credentials after creating the stream to push your content via encoder. - Pull -> If you want to stream a live URL via 5centsCDN, you can select this option

- Under the section called Multistream Platforms, click on the Add Platform button and select the ‘Instagram’ platform.
- Paste the stream key and URL from Instagram into 5centsCDN and click on Create
Please note: Your Instagram stream key expires after every live stream, so you need a new stream key every time you start a new broadcast. - Enable your source stream( if you choose Push mode then you need to configure the 5centsCDN RTMP in your encoder and start the stream)
- Once you are all set, click Go live within Live Producer (Instagram App) to start the stream.
- When you’re ready to end your stream, stop it in 5centsCDN first. Then, stop it in Instagram’s Live Video tab. Please note: If you end your stream in the streaming software before you end your Live Producer (Instagram App) broadcast, the live video will continue while displaying the last frame received from the streaming software.
Technical Requirements
Use the following technical requirements to ensure your Instagram Live stream has the highest- quality possible.

- – 9×16 aspect ratio (recommended but not required)
- – 720p at 30 fps (note: 30 fps is recommended, but Instagram Live can also support 60 – fps if desired. When using 60 fps, the Live Video preview screen will still display 30 fps.)
- – Video bitrate range: 2,250-6,000 Kbps
- – Resolution: 720×1280
- – Alternatives (supported but not recommended): 480p at 30fps, 360p
Audio
- – Sample rate: 44.1KHz
- – Channel layout: Stereo
- – Bitrate: Up to 256 Kbps
