We are very excited to announce Scheduled Playlist V4.0 with many powerful new features and capabilities which will take your Playlist Management to the next level. In this version, the users are offered more robust and enhanced schedulers which helps to manage the playlist with ease. We have included new features and fixed known bugs:
- Enable Files based on your stream
- We have also fixed the real character bug, and users can currently accommodate new files which have special characters in the name. We highly recommend using simple file naming.
- Now you can also schedule your Live streaming and its duration in your Playlists option
- Loop option within a playlist
- Local and UTC time display
- Drag and drop files in playlist
- Clear all option in the playlist
- Scheduled playlist auto-restart option.
- Users can now set the file-level start & stop
- ScheduleOnTime comes with Repeat For future
- Users are now able to see the currently playing Scheduled Playlist file from the dashboard
- The scheduler will switch to the default playlist after completing the scheduled playlist.
To create a scheduled playlist, make sure you have subscribed to enough Stream Names and a Push/VOD Zone to Upload your Videos to be scheduled. Once the files are uploaded, please follow the below steps to implement your playlist.
- In the redirected page, click on the drop-down menu Live Streams which is located to the extreme left under the 5centsCDN logo.
- Click on the Scheduled Playlist Button.
- Click on the Green Plus Button which is located at the top extreme right corner of the screen.
- On the redirected page, you can select the existing VoD or HTTP push zone or you can create a new zone.
- Click the next button.
- Provide the playlist name. If you need HTTPS enabled URL then enable that option.
- If you need live streaming along with the playlist then enable “publish enabled” option.
- On the next page, you can upload files to your push zone. If you have already uploaded the files then just click the next button.
- On the redirected page, you can schedule the uploaded files to your playlist ( Click the file name then click the “add to playlist” option).
- Click the ” Create” button.
- Now you will get an alert about scheduled playlist auto-reload.
1. Press “YES” if you want to reload the playlist automatically once the current playlist is completed.
2. Press “NO” if you want to cancel the auto-reload option. After the playlist update is completed, you need to restart it manually.
As per your requirement in managing your File following three scenarios might arise:
Scenario 1
Files Scheduling: Here, only the files which you have uploaded to the push zone will be played back through the playlist, and no live content will be played. Here, you will be able to set the order and the duration of the playlist of your uploaded files.
Follow the below procedure to do the File Scheduling.
- Go to Live Streams > Scheduled Playlist and click on the Manage Button near to the recently created Playlist name.
- In the redirected page go to Playlists available in the Basic section and click on the Add New button.
- In the redirected page provide the playlist name and make sure the playlist type is in File Mode.
- The first playlist will be your default playlist which means if nothing is scheduled the default playlist or INSTANT playlist will be playing.
You can set the Length of your playlist by setting the duration in the Length section. In Schedule type, you can set the period in which the Playlist has to start.
There are 3 options available:
1.Instant: By enabling this option, the Playlist will start as soon as it is created.
2.Schedule On Time: By enabling this option and setting the time, the playlist will start at that specified time on the same day
3.Schedule On Date Time: By enabling this option and setting the Date and Time, the playlist will start at that specified time on the specified date
You can add your files and arrange them in your playlist from the uploaded files.
- Once you have sorted your Playlist click on the Create button.
- Once you have followed this procedure, the playlist will be updated with your scheduled files.
- In case if you want to repeat your playlist and to play it in a loop way, you can tick the Loop Playlists option under info section.
NB: You can specify the time in your local time zone.
Scenario 2
Live Scheduling: Here, the playlist will be played with live content wherein you can schedule the time of the same.
Follow the below procedure to do Live Scheduling.
- Go to Live Streams > Scheduled Playlist and click on the Manage Button near to recently created Playlist name.
- In the redirected page go to Schedules available in the Basic Section and click on the Add New button.
- On the redirected page, provide your Playlist Name and Stream Name.
- Set the playlist type to Live mode.
You can set the Length of your playlist by setting the duration in the Length section.
In Scheduled type, you can set the Period in which the Playlist has to be initiated.
There are 3 options available:
1.Instant: By enabling this option, the Playlist will start as soon as it is created.
2.Schedule On Time: By enabling this option and setting the time, the playlist will start at that specified time on the same day
3.Schedule On Date Time: By enabling this option and setting the Date and Time, the playlist will start at that specified time on the specified date
Once you have scheduled your Playlist click on the Create button.
Once you have followed this procedure, the playlist will be updated with your Live content
Scenario 3
This scenario will arise when you have to do an urgent Live Telecast through your playlist by overriding all the other schedules which you have configured earlier. Regardless of whatever schedules you have created, this will only deliver the live content encoded through the dedicated encoder credentials.
- Go to Live Stream > Scheduled Playlist and click on the Manage button near to recently created Playlist name
- Enable the Publish Enabled checkbox in the optional menu under the info section and save it.
- You can check out the FMS URL and corresponding stream name to use in the encoder.
- Start publishing your live content with these credentials and the playlist will deliver it.
Note: In case if you want to repeat your playlist and to play it in a loop way, you can tick the Loop Schedules option under info section and also please note that you can always play around with these scenarios according to your requirement. Also, feel free to contact our support to determine the best scenario which suits you. (Optional feature)
Scenario 4
In case if you have to quickly update your playlist with your recently updated Schedules, you can use our Restart feature. This feature will cut off the currently playing scheduled stream and start your newly updated Schedules.
There is 2 way you can restart your playlist.
- Auto-reload option.
In this option, the playlist will reload automatically when the current playlist is completed. You need to provide permission to reload the playlist automatically while clicking the “Create” button.
2. Manual Restart
Please follow the below procedure to Restart your playlist manually.
- Go to Live Stream > Scheduled Playlist and Left click on the drop-down menu near to the Manage button corresponding to your Playlist name.
- Click on Restart.
Playlist modes
There are two types of modes are available in the playlist. LIST MODE. You can select any mode based on your choice.
LIST MODE
- In this mode, you can see the playlists as a list.
- In list mode, you can able to see the playlist name, file count, scheduled time, length, and more.
